Bus full of passengers hijacked in UP
In a shocking incident, a private bus with 34 passengers was allegedly hijacked by a person and his accomplices, posing as the agent of a finance company in Agra district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday. According to reports, the bus moving from Gurugam in Haryana to Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh.
As the news of bus hijacked broke out, police immediately swung into action and rescued passengers near Jhansi. There were a total of 34 passengers on the bus.
Later, all the passengers were reached to their respective destinations without any harassment by the hijackers.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the passengers were later provided an alternate bus in Panna district of Madhya Pradesh.
"The private bus began its journey on Tuesday evening for Panna in Madhya Pradesh. There were 34 passengers on board the bus of whom 13 had to get down at Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh while the remaining were to travel to Panna in Madhya Pradesh,” Superintendent of Police (West) Agra (rural) Ravi Kumar said.
He further said that the bus was stopped when it was stopped by car-borne miscreants on the Southern Bye Pass of Agra. Kumar also told that the hijackers forcefully took the bus in control after forcing the driver, the bus conductor, and the helper.
Police also said that the finance firm agent also asked the driver, conductor, and helper to get into a car. Later, they were released at Kuberpur. The hijackers took all the ticket money collected from the passengers. the incident had triggered panic in the area.
According to the driver of the bus, Ramesh Kumar said that at least nine people were following the bus in two cars. They intercepted the bus when it reached near Etawah toll plaza, by saying that they were from the finance company. After giving Rs 300 each to the bus conductor and the driver, the miscreants got away with the bus.
Gwalior SP Amit Sanghi told media that the police have cross-checked with the finance company which was mentioned by the hijackers. However, the company denied any role in the incident.
According to a report in NDTV, the finance company panicked after the death of bus owner believing his family may default on the loan payment. And thus they allegedly acted in a bizarre manner.
Meanwhile, the manhunt for hijackers has been launched and the borders of Agra and other adjoining districts were sealed.
