UP: Boy fakes own kidnapping to skip school, travel Lucknow

In a bid to avoid his parent's wrath, a Class-XII student of Chakeri area in Uttar Pradesh faked his own kidnapping and later was rescued by police after tracing him by technical surveillance. He was rescued from the Ghantaghar area in Kanpur. The incident came to light after the police rescued him and handed him over to his parents.

According to reports, the boy had been missing since January 24. He left home for school on the day he was last seen. Later, he went to Lucknow with his friends without the knowledge of his parents.


When he returned from the UP's Capital city, he realized that he might be scolded by his parents, if they come to know about his recent Lucknow visit without informing anyone. In a bid to avoid the wrath he came up with a plan and designed his own abduction.

Moreover, he wrote a letter to his parents on behalf of the kidnapped and demanded Rs one lakh for setting him free. In the letter, he, under the guise of kidnapper said that their son had been kidnapped and held hostage. He also asked for Rs one lakh as ransom money.

Finding no other way, his parents approached the Kanpur police and registered a case of kidnapping against unknown men. Acting on the complaint, the police launched a probe into the matter. During the course of the investigation, the police traced the boy's cell phone. The Kanpur police later found the location of the boy's cell phone near Kanpur Central station.

Not only in Kanpur, but a similar incident was also reported from Hyderabad where a minor boy faked his own kidnapping in October last year. The boy was then rescued by the police after he made a ransom call to his own parents and demanded Rs 3 lakh in exchange for his safe return.
