UP: 50-year-old former village head rapes, impregnates teenage girl
In an appalling incident reported from Uttar Pradesh, a former village head was booked for allegedly raping and impregnating a teenage girl in Fatehpur district, police said on Thursday.
On the basis of a compliant registered by the girl’s father, a case was lodged against the 50-year-old ex-village head on Wednesday under various section of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the POCSO Act, a police officer said.
However, the accused claimed that it was fake case registered against him because panchyat elections are round the corner.
As per the complaint, the accused raped the victim about five months ago and threatened her not reveal it to anyone.
The teenager girl told her mother about the incident earlier this week on being asked if she was pregnant. The victim has been sent for medical and the matter is being investigated, police said.
