Tollywood actress held after recovery of MD worth Rs 10 lakh
Taking forward its strong actions against drug abuse in Mumbai, the Narcotics Control Bureau, on Sunday, arrested a Tollywood actress during a raid on a hotel in connection to a case related to the seizure of Mephedrone, a psychoactive drug, from an MNC executive, identified as Chand Mohammed Shaik.
On Saturday, NCB’s Mumbai Zonal unit had taken Shaikh into custody from Guru Nanak road in Bandra (West). He was found in possession of 400 grams of Mephedrone (MD) worth Rs 10 lakh in the illicit drug market.
In the time of questioning, he told the NCB that he had procured the psychoactive drug from Saeed, a history-sheeter from Bhayander.
According to The Times of India, the NCB, on the basis of the information given by Shaik, carried out a raid on a hotel, During the raid, Saeed managed to run away from the hotel. The officials then arrested the woman who was in his room. She told the officials that she is a Tollywood actress.
“We brought the woman to the NCB’s Ballard Pier office and are questioning regarding Saeed and her association with him and drugs,” the report quoted an NCB official as saying.
The ongoing operations are part of the federal anti-narcotics agency’s efforts to wipe out the drugs menace in Mumbai besides its probe into the drug cases involving prominent Bollywood personalities.
