TN: Suspicious of extramarital affair, doctor slits throat of his wife, runs her over with car
In an appalling incident reported from Tamil Nadu’s Madurantakam, a doctor allegedly slit the throat of his wife and ran her over with a car. The accused and his wife had been living separately because he persistently suspected her of having an extramarital relation.
The accused, identified as Dr Gokulkumar. Worked at the SRM Medical College and Hospitals, the accused relinquished his job in the time of pandemic.
During this time, the victim, identified as Keerthana also took the decision of staying separately. On Friday, the accused doctor went to his wife's house in Madurantakam and the two allegedly had a heated argument.
The accused allegedly slashed the victim's throat and she started bleeding profusely. Hearing her screams, the victim's parents rushed to help her but were assaulted by the accused.
The victim (Keerthana) fell unconscious after her throat was cut open, according to a report by The News Minute, the accused allegedly dragged her out to the street and ran over her with his car. The woman's parents rushed her to the Chengalpattu government hospital while the accused ran away from the crime spot. The woman was declared dead at the hospital.
The accused doctor was close to the Achirapakkam toll plaza when his vehicle hit a median and overturned. The man, trapped inside the car, was rescued by the police. Investigation divulged that he was running away after murdering his wife.
"She would have died either way from the neck injury because it was really deep. He still ran over her ", police officer said.
