In an appalling incident of crime reported from Thane district’s Kalyan locality, an elderly man, aged 51, allegedly molested his 6-year-old neighbour on Wednesday.
The horrific episode came about on Wednesday when the minor victim went to buy some stuff from a nearby grocery store. The accused allegedly molested the girl by inappropriately touching her.
Later, the minor victim narrated her terrifying ordeal to her parents who then approached Kolsewadi police station to register a complaint.

In another incident, on July 2021, a youth, aged 22, allegedly kidnapped a beggar’s seven-year-old daughter and raped her in Maharashtra’s Mumbai.
The accused and the minor victim’s mother, a beggar, knew one another. The girl was playing outside her house in Kurla when the accused asked permission from the girl’s mother to take her daughter out on the pretext of giving her a treat.
After a little while, the accused, a native of Goregaon East, coerced the minor into an autorickshaw. He then took her to Aarey Colony. In the meantime, the victim’s mother initiated a search for her.
When the minor victim did not come back after a long time, her mother registered a police complaint in Kurla police station. On the basis of her complaint, a kidnapping case was filed.
Approximately around 10:30 pm, the accused, who is said to be a drug addict, allegedly raped the seven-year-old girl in Aarey Colony. The child cried for help. Hearing her screams, locals from the area came rushing to the crime spot and caught hold of the accused.
