Telangana: Man strangulates father to death to secure PSU job on compassionate grounds

In order to get a job on compassionate ground, a man allegedly strangulated his 55-year-old father to death, a PSU worker, with his younger brother and mother being part of the plot and sought to show it as a death caused by heart attack in a village in Telangana, police said.

The 25-year-old man, who had a diploma in polytechnic, throttled his father to death using a towel on 26th May while he was asleep in their house in Kothur village.

According to the police, they have arrested the two sons while their mother is on the run. They also confiscated two mobile phones and the towel, used in murder.

Three of them had plotted the murder in order to get a job on compassionate ground for the elder son of the victim, who used to work at a petrol pump in the state-run singareni Collieries Ltd at Peddapalli district.

After the elder son murdered his father, the next day the family told others that he died of a heart attack and prepared of his last rituals.

As some of the people raised doubts, he was forced to inform the police after which they sent the body for autopsy and investigation was ordered.

Police discovered that the man carried out the killing after his mother and younger brother accepted his bid.

"In order to get the job of his father in Singareni Collieries, the man ended the life of his father," Ramagundam Police Commissioner V Satyanarayana said on Saturday.

A case has been lodged against the three under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 302 (murder), 120-B (conspiracy), 201 (giving false information) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

The profit-making Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL), a coal mining company jointly owned by the Telangana and the central governments, offers employment to a dependent of its employee who dies while in service.
