Surat man murders woman, mutilates face to conceal identity
In an extremely shocking incident of crime, a 38-year-old man, identified as Vinay Rai, was taken into police custody for allegedly killing a woman in Maharashtra's Nandurbar district few days back.
According to the police, the accused confessed to the murder during interrogation. The woman's dead body was recovered with her neck slashed and her face was cut up with the skin removed in a bid to conceal her identity.
The accused is a native of Karang village in Mandvi taluka of Surat district and was taken into police custody on Monday after the police received a tip-off, The Times of India reported.
As maintained by the police, the accused is married and has two kids and works in a factory in the village near Mandvi. He is a native of Khamhori village in the Bihar’s Shivan district.
The accused was having an extramarital affairs with the woman for the past two years.
Police said the accused told them that he brought the woman to Surat from Bihar 10 days ago and came to know that she was in an illicit love affair with another man earlier and registered a rape complaint against the man.
The accused also said the woman had threatened to lodge a rape complaint against him, if he didn’t marry her. He said he killed the woman because he was scared she would registered a rape complaint against him.
The accused took the woman to Nandurbar by train and then took her to an isolated area where he murdered her using a blade. Following the ghastly act, the accused returned to Karaj village and began working.
