Shimla: Tourist fires in air after waiter denies bringing him cigarette

A tourist in Shimla threatened to kill a waiter and fired gunshots in the air after the latter refused to bring him a meal and cigarette considering the closing of the business hours. The incident took place in the wee hours of September 20. The man, who was arrested, has been identified as Vishwanath.

The hotel is located in the Chotta Shimla area, where the incident took place. According to the police, Vishwanath allegedly fired two rounds and locked himself in the hotel room.


"Acting on the complaint of the owner of a private hotel that a guest who stayed in his hotel had fired two rounds with his weapon at night and locked himself in the hotel room with his weapon," said Monika Bhutungru, Superintendent of Shimla Police, as quoted by ANI.

Police have booked him under Sections 336, 506 (endanger human life or the personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code & Arms Act."The accused has been arrested and further investigation is going on, Bhutungru added.

Further investigation is underway.
