In a shocking incident coming in from Punjab’s Patiala, a minor Dalit girl was allegedly abducted and raped by two men inside a moving car in the Balbeda village on Saturday night. The incident happened when the girl was watching a wedding ritual in her village.
As maintained by the police, the minor victim was watching the Jago ritual at a wedding when the two accused allegedly pushed her inside their car and raped her.
The police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) and arrested the accused.
Both the accused have been taken into police custody on charges of abduction and gang rape apart from the criminal intimidation of the minor dalit girl.
The accused belonged to the same village and was in their 30s. Both are married and will be presented before the Patiala Court today.
The victim has been admitted to Patiala's Rajindra hospital.
In another incident, a 65-year-old farmer was killed following a fight reportedly over calling his neighbour’s pet dog a ‘dog’ in Thadicombu town of Tamil Nadu’s Dindigul district.
The victim, identified as Rayappan had an issue with his neighbours’ dogs. He had complained a lot of times that the dogs of his neighbours, who are also his relatives Daniel and Vincent, had been aggressive towards people passing by. But the altercation also began over Rayappan refusing to call the dogs by their names and saying that the dogs should be kept on leash.
On Thursday, the situation escalated, during an argument, Rayappan sought a stick to attack the dogs. This angered Vincent and Daniel and they hit him. After this, Rayappan fell unconscious and died.
The Thadikombu Police have filed a case and put out a lookout notice for the accused.
