Pune: Woman drowns baby girl, says was expecting to have boy

A women was taken into custody for allegedly drowning a month old girl. A case has been filed against her by Pune rural police in Baramati town.

Accused woman said in her statement that she was expecting a baby boy this time but instead gave birth to a baby girl for the third time stright. This irked her and therefore, she drowned the newborn, police said.

For the last 2 months, the accused was staying at her maternal home. Her husband was shocked to hear her wife allegedly committed this crime. In his statement to police, the husband said that he was very happy to have a baby girl.

Further investigation in the matter is underway. The accused woman will be produced before the court on Monday afternoon.
