Pune horror: Godman rapes woman under the guise of performing rituals

In a horrifying incident reported from Pune, a woman, aged 36, was allegedly raped by a 60-year-old self-proclaimed godman on the pretext of performing rituals to cure the physical disability of her son. The Hadapsar police have apprehended the occultist, identified as Dhananjay Gohad alias Nana. Police have been looking for his woman accomplice who is currently at large.

According to the Times of India, the accused was taken before the court on Saturday and has been remanded in police custody for five days. The victim in her police complaint alleged that she came in touch with the accused in January 2021 as she had been looking for a cure for her disabled son.


As maintained by the victim, the accused came to her house in April on the pretext of 'removing negative powers' and asked her to strip. Gohad then reportedly raped her and also threatened her of grave ramifications if she told anyone about the crime.

The accused told the victim that her husband and her brother would die in an accidents and her second child would be born with disabilities if she told anyone about this crime.

The victim further claimed that the accused carried out black magic spells to heal her son but did not achieve success.

On 27th May, the victim approached the Hadaspur police station to registered a complaint vis-a-vis the horrifying incident. The victim told the police that she had met Gohad through his accomplice in January 2021 and claimed that he can cure her disable son.

The city police have invoked relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) linked with rape, Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013 in the FIR.
