‘Possessive’ man confines wife and daughter to their residence
A man has been arrested from Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh on Wednesday for allegedly confining his wife and daughter to his home. As per reports, the man confined his wife as he suspected her of having an extra-marital affair.
The extremely possessive man was identified as Shyam Singh, who is a native of Uttar Pradesh. He works as a marketing manager at a Mumbai-based online company. According to the police, the accused was possessive of his wife and suspected that she is having an affair with someone.
The case came to notice when the ‘confined’ woman approached the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and filed a complaint against her husband, timesnownews.com reported.
The NHRC then informed the police and the accused man was arrested from Delhi.
After receiving the complaint, Delhi police conducted a raid at the accused’s residence and found that the house had been locked.
The cops then broke open the lock and rescued the woman and her daughter, The Indian Express reported.

After releasing from his captivity, the victim woman told the police that she had been married to the man for 20 years. The woman and her daughter used to live with the accused and her in-laws. The couple used to fight constantly and the accused man also used to assault his wife.
Around 2 years ago, a woman’s in-laws passed away and the accused started confining her. He used to lock her inside the house before leaving for work in the morning. He also used to assault his daughter if she returned late from school.
Meanwhile, he has been booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
