Ashoknagar/Mungawli (Madhya Pradesh): An outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting has been reported in Chiroli village of Mungawli block, with 34 patients hospitalized, including 15 children between the ages of 2 to 13. Tragically, a 6-year-old girl, Usha, died on her way to the hospital.

According to sources, the villagers were rushed to the civil hospital in Mungawli on Thursday evening, complaining of diarrhoea and vomiting. The number of patients increased rapidly, and by Friday morning, 34 patients had been hospitalized. The health team, consisting of two doctors, ANM Anita Kol, and other health workers, was deployed in the village to provide medical aid to the affected villagers.

The SDM, RB Sindoskar, along with other officials, visited the village to take stock of the situation. The health team has taken water samples from the 11 hand pumps in the village and sealed them. The samples have been sent for testing to determine the cause of the outbreak.

While the PHED department attributes the cause of the outbreak to food poisoning, the doctors believe that contaminated water is the primary cause of the disease. The health team has distributed medicines, including zinc and ORS, to the villagers and has started a door-to-door survey to monitor the health of the villagers.

The SDM has assured that the situation is under control and that an ambulance and two taxis have been arranged to transport patients to the hospital. The health team has been instructed to remain in the village to provide medical aid to the villagers.

In a statement, Dr Sachin Jain, a doctor at the civil hospital, said that the situation is under control, and the health team is working hard to provide medical aid to the villagers. Dr Raghuraj Singh Rajput, another doctor at the hospital, said that the outbreak is suspected to be caused by contaminated water and that the health team is taking all necessary measures to contain the situation.

The SDM, RB Sindoskar, has assured that the situation is under control and that the administration is taking all necessary steps to prevent the spread of the disease.
