Nitish Kumar not prime ministerial candidate: JDU Chief
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is not in the race for the Prime Minister candidate, said Janata Dal (United) National President Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh, adding that Kumar's only aim is to unite the opposition parties against the BJP.
“Nitish Kumar is not a PM candidate, he only wants to be the facilitator in uniting the opposition parties, and with the unity of the Opposition, India can be free from BJP,” he said.
Echoing Opposition parties’ claim that the Centre is using CBI and Enforcement Directorate against them for political benefits, Singh said that the way BJP is misusing the agencies will end their trustworthiness. He also emphasized that the Bihar Chief Minister is not afraid of CBI and ED.
“Nitish Kumar is not afraid of either CBI or ED but the way you (BJP) are misusing CBI is a matter of concern for the whole country, you're ending the trustworthiness of established &trustworthy institutions & using them for political purposes,” said Singh.
Kumar, who left the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar and formed a government with the Grand Alliance, is being seen as the PM candidate in 2024. The JDU workers also put up posters outside the party office in Patna in his support.
However, the Bihar Chief Minister has always said he has no intention of pitching himself as the PM candidate for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
Recently, Kumar met top opposition leaders and tried to unite them against the BJP for the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections.
