Mumbai Shocker: Security guard, kin murder businessman after getting him drunk
A police team from Dahisar, who were probing the killing of a businessman last month, have arrested a security guard of a hotel where the deceased victim had stayed before taking a flat on rent.
The cops took the accused, identified as Rahul Ramnath Sharma, aged 20, into their custody from Bihar on Monday, and his relative, a co-accused in the case on Tuesday.
The victim, identified as Manish Bhai Patel, aged 38, was a pharmacist from Gujarat and had taken a flat on rent in Dahisar. His flat owner told police that he visited the flat on Sunday, because the businessman did not respond to his calls for three days. When the flat owner knocked on the door that too went unanswered, finally, he opened the flat and found Manish's body in a pool of blood, and called the police.
According to a report in mid-day, Manish was killed on Thursday. The accused were identified with the help of the CCTV installed around the building. While looking into the footage, police saw two men with bags and started a probe.
The police traced the duo to Bihar. A team of Dahisar police went to Bihar and arrested Rahul on Monday. Police also arrested his accomplice on Sunday and was in the process of bringing him to Mumbai. The police have not disclosed his identity yet.
In the time of interrogation, Rahul admitted to murdering the businessman with the help of his relative, police said.
The security gaurd, came to know the businessman when the latter was staying at a hotel for some time. According to police, during his stay at the hotel, the deceased made an impression that he was a very rich person and would drink with the accused. During their drinking sessions, the accused had seen bundles of cash with Manish.
The accused (Rahul) and his aid also visited Manish at his rented apartment thrice after he moved there. His accomplice hatched a plan to murder Manish in order to make quick money.
On Thursday, the accused bought liquor from a shop in Dahisar and visited Manish. They got the businessman drunk then the accomplice hit him in the head with a vase, leading to his demise, police said.
As maintained by the cops, they had recovered a bag at the murder scene, in the CCTV camera footage, the two accused were seen carrying that bag.
