Mumbai: Serial molester sexually harasses 33-year-old woman on way home
There seems to be no end to crimes against women even during the pandemic. In a shocking incident reported from Maharashtra’s Mumbai, a 33-year-old woman was allegedly sexually harassed by a serial molester.
The appalling incident happened near Mithibai College in Vile Parle on 3rd May. The accused has been identified Sanjog Koli, who works as a delivery boy.
According to a report in Times of India, Juhu police have now taken the accused into their custody. The accused had earlier ran away from the crime spot on his two-wheeler after committing the crime.
The accused reportedly approached the victim on his bike and ran away after sexually harassing her. The woman was returning home at around 9 pm when the accused allegedly molested her.
"Koli was arrested with the help of Close Circuit Television Camera (CCTV). The accused was traced to a slum in Vile Parle (west)," the report quoted Inspector ShashiKant Mane as saying.
Police recognized the accused by the out fit he was wearing on the day of crime. In her complaint, the woman said that the accused followed her and ran away after molesting her. "Before I could realise, the accused fled in the dark on his motorbike," the woman said.
As maintained by the police, the accused has confessed to his crime. Police reportedly said they came to know that the accused had been involved in similar crimes in the past.
The accused has been booked under Sections 354 (outrage modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
