Subsequent to the police complaint by the victim’s family, the cops took the accused into their custody and lodged a case against him under many sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The charges pressed against the accused were 376 (rape), and provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the police said.
Later, the accused physiotherapist was presented before a local court and was remanded in police custody for seven days, police added.
