Mumbai: Doctor allegedly sexually assaults 44-year-old COVID-19 patient

Doctor sexually assaults COVID-19 patient

A shocking news was reported from Mumbai where a 34-year-old doctor sexually assaulted a 44-year-old male patient of Coronavirus. The incident took place on 1st May, Friday inside the ICU ward of a private hospital in Mumbai Central area.

As per reports, the accuse, an MD had joined the hospital a day before the alleged incident. The doctor was accused of touching the patient inappropriately. As soon as the patient reported the incident to the senior doctor, they alerted the Mumbai Police who immediately swung into action.


Police said that they have not arrested the accused as he came in contact with the COVID-19 patient. Instead of arresting they have quarantined the doctor at home while they have filed the case against the doctor under Section 377 (unnatural offences) 269 (negligent act likely to spread infection of diseases endangering life) and 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of diseases endangering life) of Indian Penal Code.

While the hospital in their statement regarding the incident said, “The doctor was on his first day of duty, having joined on the previous day. Following the receipt of information of misconduct and as per protocol, the administration immediately informed the police. The services of the doctor were terminated.”
