Men try to sacrifice 10-year-old girl to ‘ward off evil spirits’
In a shocking incident, five people, including a priest were allegedly trying to sacrifice a 10-year-old girl to ward off evil spirits in an agricultural field.
However, all accused have been arrested under the Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Bill, kidnapping, and criminal intimidation, according to a report in The New Indian Express.
The incident took place on June 14 at Gandhi Grama near Nelamangala when the minor girl was playing in front of her house. The victim identified as a Class 4 student, stayed with her grandmother and her parents lived in Magadi where they worked as labourers.

According to the complaint filed by the girl’s parents, their neighbours Savithramma and Soumya took their daughter to a nearby field on the pretext of giving prasad. The grandmother of the girl noticed that the 10-year-old girl was missing. Therefore, she started looking for her and heard her screams from the field.
The woman also informed police that all the five accused were present with the girl while conducting the rituals.

However, the girl was rescued and narrated the incident.
The victim told her parents that the accused forced her to wear a garland and started performing rituals.
Meanwhile, the five accused were detained and during interrogation, they revealed that they had taken the girl to the field for a stone-laying ceremony.
The accused told police that they wanted to build a temple in their field and the priest had suggested to them that a minor girl could perform the rituals, the report stated.
