Man murders live-in partner, burns her body; gives shocking statement to cops
In a shocking incident, a man in Uttarakhand allegedly murdered his live-in partner and set her body ablaze. To hid his crime, the accused weaved the fake story to mislead the police.
The victim was identified as Nivedita Mukherjee (25), is a native of Bengal, and had been working at a Dehradun-based IT company.
The dead remains of Mukherjee were found on the Mussoorie-Kimadi Road on Sunday by the locals, timesnownews.com reported.
The accused has been identified as Ankit Chaudhary, who hails from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. He runs a construction business in Dehradun.

In an attempt to evade suspicion, the 31-year-old man told the police that Mukerjee had fallen from the third floor of their rented accommodation in Rajpur Road on April 28. He also told police that he had performed the last rites of the woman in a forest as he got panicked.
The incident came to light when Mukherjee’s family approached the Dehradun police and blamed Chaudhary for their daughter’s death.

According to media reports, Mukherjee and Chaudhary met in October last year through a common friend, and then they started dating each other.
On April 25, the woman informed her family that she was shifting with Chaudhary and three days later, she stopped answering her phone.
Somehow, Mukherjee’s family contacted the accused through social media. Chaudhary told the victim’s family that she had left the house after they had fought and assured them that she would return, The Times of India reported.
Later, the accused started messaging the woman’s cousin Antara through a social media account while posing as Mukherjee. However, the family grew suspicious when their phone calls went unanswered.
When Chaudhary was confronted by Mukherjee’s family, he told the woman’s family that she had fallen from the balcony and died.
However, police grew suspicious as the balcony had a four-foot grill and it is impossible for a person to jump to death from the spot.
During a police investigation, the accused confessed his crime. He took them to the spot where he had burned the woman’s body. The cops found the woman’s bones near the spot and arrested the accused.
However, the reason behind the murder of the woman has not been ascertained yet.
