In a shocking incident, two children were allegedly beaten to death by their uncle on Monday. The vicious incident happened in Repalle area in Guntur district.

The victims have been identified as Parthiv Sahasawat, aged 7 and Rohan Ashwin aged 10.

The kids were taken to a nearby government hospital with serious injuries to their head but lost their lives. While Sahasawat died on the spot, Ashwin succumbed to injuries at the hospital.

The accused identified as Srinivas Rao brutally beat-up the kids with a wooden stick, according to a report in NDTV.

The parents of the victims work as daily wage labourers in Karnataka’s Bengaluru city. They left their kids under the watch of their maternal grandmother due to COVID-19 induced lockdown.

As maintained by cops, Srinivas felt humiliated and jealous because he thought he was mistreated by his in-laws.

The accused took the two children to a room and beat them up with the stick leading to severe injuries to their head. The children were bleeding when they were rushed to the hospital.

However, the accused didn’t hurt his own son, who was playing with the victims. Srinivas was taken into police custody when he visited the hospital, said Suryanarayana, Circle inspector, Repalle.

"We are filing a case based on the complaint from the grandmother of the kids. We will probe if there are family disputes or other causes," the report quoted a police officer as saying.

Another reports suggest the Srinivasa Rao had been suffering from psychological problem for the past few years and is undergoing treatment.
