A man in Gurugram allegedly forced into his estranged wife’s residence and set her family members on fire on Tuesday. The accused allegedly set on fire the woman’s grandparents, her brother's kids and a cousin in Haryana's Pataudi.
According to the police, injured individuals were rushed to different private hospitals and one of them was referred to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital. The accused in the case has been identified as Rinku.
A native of Rohtak’s Bohar area, Rinku sustained burn injuries and was admitted to the intensive care unit of a hospital. The police said that Rinku and his wife tied the knot eight years back and parted ways following a nuptial feud.
The woman also registered a dowry and domesic violence case against Rinku after their estrangement. According to cops, the horrifying incident occurred at around 2 pm, when Rinku allegedly went to his wife’s house on Rampura crossing in Pataudi with a bottle of petrol.
A police personnel aware of the matter told the Indian Express, "As the blaze spread, the accused’s shirt also caught fire and he suffered burn injuries. The mother of the children, who was washing utensils, rushed to rescue her children and suffered minor burns. An uncle of the children jumped in to rescue the children and suffered serious injuries. The accused fell unconscious and is undergoing treatment. "
As maintained by police, the two minor kids are said to be in serious condition. It is suspected that Rinku had a grudge against his brother-in-law for helping his wife in the court case. The statement of the family is yet to be taken.
