Maharashtra: Shocking! 55-year-old man beaten to death after he refused to withdraw molestation case against his daughter
A 55-year-old man was reportedly beaten to death by a mob of seven people in Maharashtra’s Nashik district since he refused to withdraw a molestation case filed by his daughter against one of them.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Ratnakar Navar said on Monday that they arrested four of the attackers including Sayyad Sayeed who had allegedly molested his daughter. The search hunt is on for the other accused.
In 2015, the woman was allegedly molested by Sayeed at Golden Nagar in Malegaon town of Nashik. She had filed a case against the accused at Pawardi police station and the case is pending in a local court.
According to the police, the accused was putting pressure on the victim’s father Fazal Mohammed Nawab Ali to withdraw the case but Ali refused to do so.
On Saturday night, while Ali was returning home on his motorcycle in Malegaon, the accuse Sayeed along with a gang stopped him and beat him up severely with wooden sticks. Ali died on way to hospital as he suffered serious injuries in the attack.
The deceased’s son filed a case with the pawardi police and they arrested four accused on Monday.
The accused have been booked under several IPC sections – IPC sections 302 (murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 147, 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
