Maharashtra: 13-year-old girl gang-raped, 7 arrested; including minor
Five men and a woman along with a minor boy have been taken into police custody for the alleged gang-rape of a 13-year-old minor girl in Maharashtra's Nashik.
A minor boy has also been detained in connection with the crime which took place on Saturday a police officer said.
When the victim’s parents came back home after work on Saturday, they didn’t find their daughter in the house.
Later, while looking for her, they found her crying on the terrace of a nearby building, an official from the police station stated.
When the girl’s parents asked her why she was crying, the girl told them about the incident following which they filed a police complaint, the official said.
On the basis of the complaint, the police arrested five men, aged 19 to 29 years, and a minor boy on Sunday, the official said.
They also took a woman into custody, who allegedly helped the accused in executing the crime, he said. He further added that the girl is undergoing treatment at the district civil hospital.
A case has been registered against the accused under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, the official added.
