Madhya Pradesh: Man chops off right hand, foot of his wife over suspicion of infidelity
In a grisly incident reported from Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, a 32-year-old man chopped off the right hand and foot of his wife over qualm of having an illict love affair.
As per the specifics, the incident took place at an area which fell under the jurisdiction of Nishatpura police station in Bhopal on Tuesday. According to a report in India Today, the accused has been identified as Pritam Singh Sisodia, a resident of Hoshangabad.
Talking about the incident, Nishatpura SHO Mahinder Singh Chouhan stated that the accused used to put up with his minor son at the Paras colony house.
The accused's wife, identified as Sangeeta, works as a supervisor in a factory in Indore and used to come to Bhopal on off days. On Tuesday, at around 11:30 pm, the accused came into his house in an inebriated condition and cut off her right hand and right foot with an axe.
The accused’s wife was found in a pool of blood after few neighbours came to the aid of her after hearing her cries for help, even as the accused threatened to cut off her head. However, the cops arrived at the spot in the time following which Sangeeta was taken to a nearby hospital.
Sangeeta’s state of health is said to be dire, while the doctors have stated that, "It can not be said at this stage if her hand and foot can be reattached."
In the meantime, a case of attempt to murder has been lodged against the accused and the police have taken him into their custody. The custody of minor child of the couple has for now been given to Sangeeta's family.
