Kolkata: 55-year-old man throws his neighbours' kids from four storey building after altercation
A man (55) threw his neighbours’ two kids off the roof of a four-storey building in Kolkata’s Burrabazar area on Sunday following a heated argument. A two-year-old boy died, while, six-year old suffered grave injuries after being thrown.
The incident happened at 113 Netaji Subhas Road in Kolkata’s Burrabazar area.
Initial investigation let out that the arrested man had a dispute with the father of the deceased child around a fortnight ago. On Sunday, the two neighbours got into a fight again, and, one of them got so angry that he picked up a two-year-old and a six-year-old child and threw them off from the four-storeyed building.
The kids were taken to a nearby hospital but the 2-year-old was declared dead on arrival.
Burrabazar area is one of the most populated area in Kolkata, with small rooms in old buildings.
"Two boys - aged two years and six years - fell down or were thrown off the fourth floor of a building. When they were taken to a hospital, the two-year-old was declared brought dead," Joint Commissioner of Police (crime) Murlidhar Sharma said.
People from the area, as well as family members of the two, alleged that a man had thrown the two from the roof of the four storey building, he said.
"The man was arrested and is being interrogated. Strong legal action will be taken against the culprit," Sharma said.
