Kerala: Man forces woman to convert to Islam so as to marry her

In a shocking case from Kerala where a 49-year-old man forced a woman to change her religion for him.

The man has been arrested by Police for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman employee. The case came to light after a 24-year-old woman approached the police and claimed that her colleague assaulted her and tried to convince her to change her religion so that he could marry her.

The accused man has been identified as Ali alias Aliyar, who runs a travel agency named Alians and has also been accused of sexual assault in the past.

As per the reports of timesnownews.com, he has been booked under section 376 (rape), 351(A)(1)(sexual harassment and punishment for sexual harassment) and 354D(1) (stalking) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The victim alleged that Ali had sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions. Ali used to sexually assault the 24-year-old woman at their office in Muvattupuzha. He also assaulted the woman on an official trip.

"One such incident happened during a trip to Goa in 2019,” a police officer said.

The woman also accused the man of forcing her to convert to Islam to marry her. Police are yet to confirm her allegations.

The 24-year-old woman also said he used to come to her residence frequently and often caused a scene. After repeated visits by man, the woman’s family shifted her to the hostel.

However, the accused continued to follow her and even tried to malign her image at the hostel.

After being tired of his harassment, the woman decided to file a complaint against the accused.

Police also claimed that the accused has a history of sexually harassing his female employees. A police investigation revealed that none of his previous employees reported against the accused to the police in the past.

Police officials also told The News Minute about the case that Ali tried to silence the mouth of one of his female employees by giving sovereigns gold after sexually assaulting her.
