Kerala boy drags woman to farm, attacks her for resisting rape

In a shocking incident of crime reported from Kerala, a 15-year-old boy has been taken into police custody for allegedly trying to rape a 23-year-old woman after he stalked her and dragged her to a farm.

As maintained by the New Indian Express, when the woman held out against the boy, he attacked her with stone and fastened her hands. However, the woman managed to escape from his grip and dashed towards a nearby house. The woman in the house sounded an alarm, after which, Ummer Farook, Kottukkara ward councillor of Kondotty municipality came to the location.

The accused is a student of class 10 and a state judo champion. The boy was recognized from the discriptions given by the woman and from the CCTV video. The teenager was taken into police custody on Tuesday and admitted to the crime he committed. He was presented before the juvenile justice board.

The incident occurred on Monday when the woman was walking from her home towards the Kottukkara junction to reach a computer centre.

The boy went after her and held her from the back and dragged her to a farmland. He struck the woman with a rock when she made an attempt to withstand him.

“The girl’s face was swollen. The attacker had ripped her dress. We gave the injured woman first aid and shifted her to Kondotty Taluk Hospital and later to Manjeri Medical College Hospital,” ward councillor told the national daily.

Outlining the daily routine of the victim, the ward councillor said the woman usually took a bus from the junction to get to the computer centre. The junction is about 1 km from her house. The woman also takes a short route through a paddy field to get there.

The woman detailed her attacker to the cops and said she could recognise him if she saw him again. She also said she had seen the boy earlier.

According to the Malappuram district police chief Sujith Das, the accused had marks on his hand, neck and lips from the woman's nails as she resisted the rape attempt.

“The boy had sustained some cut marks on his hand, neck and lip from the woman’s nails as she resisted the rape. He told his parents that he had sustained the marks after he fell down while trying to escape from a chasing dog. However, during detailed questioning, he confessed that he had committed the crime,” he said.

Kondotty Police Inspector stated that the police will give a final report stating the boy attempted to rape and kill the 23-year-old.
