Due to coronavirus lockdown, people have faced a lot of problems like losing one’s job, loss in business, stuck at places, including wedding dates postponed. Many people have understood the problem and supported the government in controlling the disease by following corona guidelines. But many didn’t understand the consequences of the disease and also violated the guidelines, even some have committed suicide or crime for petty reasons.

One such shocking case has come to light from Jharkhand where a 30-year-old man has committed suicide. The incident took place on Sunday at his house at Vishwakarma Nagar in Jamshedpur’s Mango suburb.

The reason behind this extreme step was his wedding which has been delayed due to the COVID-19 lockdown.

Reportedly, the man was deeply stressed over the extension of his wedding date, according to the Police.

The matter took place within the territorial jurisdiction of the Olidih Police Station. The man has been identified as Sanjit Gupta.

The suicide case has been registered and police are investigating the matter. Also, the body was sent to MGM for conducting the postmortem examination, a source said.

According to the reports in the Times of India, the deceased man went to his room after having dinner on Saturday night. At around 4 am when his father Rajendra Prasad Gupta went to use the washroom he got shocked to see his son hanging from the ceiling fan in the living room of their house.

Sanjit's father told that his son’s marriage was fixed with a girl from Bihar’s Aurangabad and they were supposed to marry on April 25. Due to the imposition of nationwide lockdown, his wedding date was postponed which affected him badly.

Sanjit got depressed and also stopped talking with his family and friends. His inconsolable father also told TOI that Sanjit was blaming lockdown for spoiling his marriage plans.

However, Rajendra had already lost his two sons before Sanjit’s death. One of his sons drowned in the year 2000 while another had gone missing in 2012.
