Jamia Millia professor fails 15 non-Muslim students for not supporting CAA protests; suspended
A Jamia Millia Islamia University professor has sparked controversy after he posted a tweet about deliberately failing 15 non-Muslim students. He stated the reason in his tweet about doing so.
He tweeted that he has chosen to fail 15 non-Muslim students who didn’t support the agitation against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
His tweet has brought the Internet by storm and people have started slamming the professor for what he has done with students. After the outrage on Twitter, Jamia Millia Islamia University has announced his suspension and also ordered for an inquiry.
Jamia University has tweeted, “Dr. Abrar Ahmad, Asstt Professor of @jmiu_official tweeted in the public domain as to failing 15 non-muslim students in an exam. This is serious misconduct inciting communal disharmony under CCS CONDUCT RULES. The university suspends him pending an inquiry.”

Assistant Professor Abrar’s tweet immediately triggered netizens and people were asking for action against him while saying that such communal behavior cannot be tolerated at a national university.
Since December 2019, the varsity witnessed the protests against CAA, NRC, and NPR. On December 15, the protest took a violent turn and Delhi Police barged into the premises of the varsity and allegedly beat up students.
Reportedly, Jamia University was the epicenter of anti-CAA protests since December when the police took action on students which triggered nationwide protest and students along with other took law and orders in their hands. Due to the protests against CAA, universities like Jamia, Delhi University, JNU, among others were closed.
In the anti-CAA protest, several people were left injured in the violence and over 10 people killed in the Delhi violence.
