Jaipur: Woman stabs brother-in-law to death after argument with his wife

In a shocking incident reported from Jaipur’s Panda Mandi area, a woman allegedly stabbed her brother-in-law to death on Wednesday after a squabble with her sister-in-law over a petty matter.

The woman, who is identified as Fariya, was taken into police custody on Tuesday in connection with the killing of her brother-in-law, identified as Mohseen, police said.

According to the family, Fariya lived with her husband and his three brothers in an apartment in Jaipur’s Panda Mandi locality. Fariya's relation with his brother-in-law Mohseen and his wife was strained because of non-payment of rent. The two sisters-in-law frequently joined in verbal spats.

On 9th May, Fariya’s husband, identified as Shahrukh reportedly asked her to give some ‘dahi bhalla’ to Mohseen. However, she refused to take the bowl, following which she went back to her room.

Fariya’s husband, however, sent her again to Mohseen’s room to return what was their bowl. After she emptied the contents, Fariya went and threw the bowl on the floor of their room.

A heated squabble followed between the two sisters-in-law and which culminated into a physical fight where both started punching one another.

The brother-in-law (Mohseen) tried to break off the fight but Fariya grabbed a knife and allegedly stabbed him.

With a serious injuries, Mohseen was rushed to a hospital in Jaipur but he was moved to SMS hospital after they declined admittance.

At the hospital, the family concealed the truth and instead told the authorities that a rod pierced Mohseen’s stomach after he fell from the roof of the house. After he died, the police were informed.

Although the family at first did not speak much, they revealed the truth after detailed interrogation. Police said after this, the woman was nabbed and an investigation is underway in the case.
