J&K: Man threw holy book into water in Srinagar mosque, arrested

A case of sacrilege at a mosque has come to light in Srinagar city, where a man picked up the Quran and allegedly threw the holy book into the water. The incident took place in Khan Masjid Gojwara in the Gojwara area of Srinagar.
According to police, Irshad Ahmad picked up the Quran and threw the holy book into the water. He was arrested in an overnight raid.
Ahmad appears to be mentally unstable, as per preliminary probe. A case has been registered at Nowhatta police station and an investigation is underway.
The Quran is a holy book of Muslims, and according to the religion, any kind of desecration of the holy book is considered a serious crime.
