Server Issues Disrupting Last-Minute Submissions

Sagar: With only two days left to file income tax returns for the assessment year 2024-2025, people are facing trouble due to server issues. The last date for filing returns is July 31, and most people wait until the last minute to file, causing a heavy load on the server, which leads to frequent crashes.

According to information received from the Income Tax Department, around 3 lakh people from Sagar file their returns every year. Normally, it takes 10-12 minutes to file a return, but due to server issues, it is now taking more than half an hour. Not only taxpayers but also chartered accountants are facing trouble, having to work for 10-12 hours a day.

Many chartered accountants are waking up early to file returns, hoping to get a good speed on the server. They have informed that some changes were made to the portal's offline format on Saturday, which caused the portal to be down for several hours. On Sunday, the portal was down again, causing further inconvenience.

Penalty After July 31

If the deadline of July 31 is missed, a penalty will be imposed. Therefore, people want to file their returns on time. If returns are filed early, a good refund can be expected, as the Income Tax Department gives priority to returns filed on time.

Problems Persist

With only two days left to file returns, server issues are causing trouble. The server is not working, and login issues are being faced. Even if returns are filed, OTP is not being generated. Chartered accountants are expressing their frustration on social media, but the problem persists.

Sudip Jain, CA, said, "We are facing trouble due to server issues. OTP is not being generated, and login issues are being faced."

Vikram Rawat, Income Tax Officer, said, "Around 3 lakh returns are filed from Sagar every year. Due to the heavy load on the server on the last day, some technical issues arise, but returns are being filed."

Problems Being Faced

* Server is frequently going down
* OTP is not being generated after filing returns
* Login issues are being faced
* 10-minute work is taking more than half an hour due to server issues.
