Hyderabad rape accused shot dead: Saina Nehwal, Jwala Gutta react to the killings
Even though the killings of the Hyderabad rape and murder accused has divided the social media, Indian sports stars have reacted to the incident on Friday.
All four accused in the rape and murder case of veterinarian in Hyderabad were shot down early morning in an exchange of fire with police on Friday, police said.
Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal to to her official twitter handle and applauded Hyderabad police after the accused were shot down on Friday.
"Great work #hyderabadpolice ..we salute u," the Indian badminton star wrote.
Former Union Minister and Olympic medallist, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore congratulated Hyderabad Police.
"I congratulate the hyderabad police and the leadership that allows the police to act like police. Let all know this is the country where good will always prevail over evil (Disclaimer for holier than thou- police acted swiftly in self defence) (sic)," Rathore wrote.
Simultaneously, shuttler Jwala Gutta also took to social media and pondered whether such acts would stop rape in future.
"Will this stop the future rapists?? And an important question Will every rapist be treated the same way...irrespective of their social standing?! (sic)," Jwala wrote.
According to the investigation, the accused were taken to the crime spot for reconstruction of the crime scene on Friday. The accused, as per senior police officer, tried to grab hold of weapons from the police and fire at the police before trying to escape.
"They (accused) snatched weapons from police and fired on police and tried to escape... police fired in retaliation in which the four accused died," a senior police official told PTI. Two policemen were also injured, he said.
The four accused were shot dead on NH-44 near Hyderabad.
