Hyderabad: Jobless father sends 5-year-old daughter as domestic helper amid lockdown
A shocking case was reported from Hyderabad where a jobless father sends his 5-year-old daughter for work as a domestic helper in exchange of money. As per reports, the daughter of an auto driver has been working for the accused, a housewife, since the lockdown was imposed.
The incident came to light when Achyuta Rao, who runs an NGO informed the police about this cruel activity. The police immediately swung into action and rescued the girl from the employer’s house on Friday with the help of the women and child department team. The police told TOI that the victim was also physically abused by the employer after she started asking about her parents.
NGO has requested the police to take strict action against the employer and people who are involved in the child labour. Police have handed over the 5-year-old girl to the child welfare committee. They have also booked the employer and girl’s father under Section 324 (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of Indian Penal Code. They have also booked them under relevant sections of the JJ Act and Child Labour Act.
