Haryana: Teen girl found hanging at home, 2 relatives booked for rape, murder
A 17-year-old was allegedly raped and murdered by her two relatives at her home in Sirsa district in Haryana. Later the accused hanged the victim’s dead body to show the crime as a case of suicide.
The incident took place when the victim’s parents had gone out and her younger brother was at their shop. One of the accused entered the house saying that he wanted to use the washroom, the victim’s father said, adding that after some time the other accused also entered.
According to a report by Hindustan Times, The victim’s father stated that his son went to the house and found the duo trying to rape his minor daughter. “My son ran to his uncle’s house for help. When my son and his cousin reached our home, they found my daughter hanging from the ceiling fan and the accused fled the spot”.
Following this, police were called and the girl’s body was sent for post-mortem. A case has been filed against the accused under various sections of the IPC, Sections 376 (rape), 302(murder), and 452 (whoever commits house-trespass). Charges under the Protection of the Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act have also been invoked against them as the girl was a minor.
Sirsa SHO Devi Lal told HT, The victim’s family had fixed her wedding which was scheduled to happen after she turned 18.
One of the two accused was the teenager’s would-be husband’s brother-in-law, the SHO added.
