Video: Rescue Teams Save Two Kanwariyas from Drowning
Haridwar: The Kanwar Yatra commenced on 22nd July, drawing thousands of Lord Shiva devotees to Haridwar, Uttarakhand, to collect holy Ganga water.
Pilgrims, chanting "Jai Bhole," are walking several kilometres to fill their Kanwars at the Ganga River, causing heavy crowds at the ghats.
Despite extensive security measures, including ropes and iron chains to prevent drowning, two young men began to drown while taking a dip in the river.
Prompt action by the rescue teams, including police and SDRF, saved their lives.

The government has made significant arrangements for safety and security from Uttar Pradesh to Uttarakhand to ensure the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
As in previous years, the Uttarakhand Police has deployed the SDRF team at sensitive ghats in Haridwar for the safety of pilgrims during the Kanwar Mela.
