Gurugram: 14-year-old girl delivers baby; family refuses to keep child
In a shocking case, rape survivor's family refuted to keep her child. The minor girl recently delivered a baby girl at Sector 10A Civil in Gurugram on Friday. Due to social stigma, her family denied keeping the child.
As per the reports, if the survivor girl, who is currently under medical care at the hospital, also refused to keep the baby then the girl will be sent to an orphanage.
The minor girl is a resident of Gurugram and she lived with her mother and younger brother.
The family relocated from West Bengal’s Darjeeling in 2016. As per media reports, the minor girl was allegedly drugged and raped in October last year.
According to her family, they were not aware of the girl’s pregnancy. On Friday, the girl developed a labour pain, following which she was admitted to the hospital, where she delivered a baby girl.
The girl told her legal advisor that she was playing with her friend in a park in October 2019. Six boys approached them. A drink was offered to her. She lost consciousness after having the drink.
A woman allegedly found the girl lying in the park and woke her up. She came back home and found bloodstains on her clothes. Fearing she would be scolded by her mother if she revealed anything to her mother, a police officer told The Times of India.
