Gujarat: Parents sell 17-year-old pregnant girl to labourer for money
In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old pregnant was allegedly sold by her parents in Gujarat.
Police have arrested the parents and paramour after she approached the police and filed a complaint.
The incident took place in Shinor taluka of the district.
According to a report in The Times of India, the girl complained after her paramour Vikas Vasava asked to return to her parents’ home on June 1.
The 17-year-old girl was living with the man and her parents were also aware of their relationship.
According to police, the victim’s family denied accepting the girl as she was pregnant and forged a deal with Vasava for Rs 50,000.
The girl came to know about the agreement between her father and Vasava but she remains silent as she was living happily with her lover.
Reportedly, a relative of the girl instigated her father to extort money from Vasava.
According to media reports, the relative told the girl’s father that he should be asked at least Rs 5 lakh because the girl is minor. After this, the girl’s father again demanded more money from Vasava to keep his daughter, a police official said.
However, Vasava refused to pay extra money as he was working as a casual labourer. As the girl’s father continued to pressurize Vasava for money, therefore, he asked his live-in partner to go back to her home.
