Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently being interrogated in the matter of the assassination of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, disclosed during the questioning that he wanted to murder Bollywood actor Salman Khan in 2018 to teach him a lesson over the 1998 blackbuck poaching case.

According to the sources, during his questioning by the Punjab Police, the gangster disclosed the murder conspiracy.

Bishnoi sent another gangster Sampat Nehra to Mumbai to execute the plan. Nehra did recce around Salman’s residence. Bishnoi reportedly told police that Nehra only had a pistol and did not have a long-distance firing weapon and could attack Salman Khan only from a short distance. So, he bought a rifle worth Rs 4 lakh to kill him.

However, in 2018, the police found the spring rifle from Dinesh Dagar, from whom the rifle was ordered and the murder conspiracy was thwarted.

Earlier, Hastimal Saraswat, a lawyer representing Salman Khan in the blackbuck poaching case, claimed he had received death threats from the Bishnoi gang.

Salman Khan was accused of hunting and killing two blackbucks in Rajasthan's Kankani while he was in the state for the shoot of the film. The actor was charged under section 9/51 of the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972. A case under sections 3/25 and 3/27 of the Arms Act was also registered against Salman for allegedly keeping and using firearms with an expired licence in the poaching of blackbucks.

In 2018, Salman was sentenced to 5 years in prison following a court in Jodhpur convicted him of killing two blackbucks. Salman was later granted bail in the matter.
