Gandhi Jayanti: Watch VP Dhankhar, PM Modi attend prayer meet at Gandhi Smriti
Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar and Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 2 reached Gandhi Smriti in New Delhi and attended a prayer meet. The prayer meet was organised on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Mahatma Gandhi's birth anniversary is commemorated worldwide as the International Day of Non-Violence, highlighting the philosophy of non-violence to achieve social or political change.

Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister paid floral tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former PM Lal Bahadur Shastri at Rajghat and Vijay Ghat.
President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar also remembered Mahatma Gandhi and paid floral tributes to him at Rajghat on his birth anniversary. Both the dignitaries then paid floral tributes to Shastri at Vijay Ghat.
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 2 in Porbandar, Gujarat. He adopted a non-violent resistance and led the freedom struggle against British colonial rule. This led to India finally achieving its independence in the year 1947.
