Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that he will stay away from the right wing group Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh as the group is dividing the country on the basis of religion and caste.

He said ‘to save the country we have to stay away from them’ as it ‘creates a divide between us based on religion, caste that is why I am against them”. The Samajwadi President said this after he refused to attend the mega meeting of the group going to be held in New Delhi on Monday.

Akhilesh, whose party recently voted out of power, also said that it is the RSS behind his defeat in the assembly elections last year. His party lost because the RSS ‘misled people’.
Commenting on religious division done by the BJP and the RSS, he said “If you keep the youth fighting among themselves for religion and caste, they will not ask for jobs and income. That's their plan”.

Akhilesh also said that he was called backward by the RSS and the BJP. “But I ask them -- can they show somebody who built such a great expressway, distribute 18 lakh laptops” said the former chief minister.

The RSS, patron organization of the BJP, reportedly invited the key opposition parties for its three-day mega meeting that will start tomorrow. But Akhilesh Yadav said that he will stay away after reading “what Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel wrote about them”.

The Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said that the Congress party did not receive any invitation from the RSS. In any case, it , he said, is “not a medal of honour as their inherently divisive, sectarian and hate-filled agenda is known to one and all”.
