Dubai-bound passenger smuggles foreign currency worth Rs 45 lakh in biscuits, peanuts; held at Delhi airport [VIDEO]

Man arrested at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi for smuggling foreign currency in edible items.  He has stuffed Rs 45 lakh money in peanuts and biscuit packets.

The man has been identified as Murad Ali, the passenger was held at Terminal 3 of the IGAI on Tuesday evening. CISF also asserted that Ali was slated to board an Air India flight to Dubai.


After getting suspected, CISF officials have nabbed the culprit and recovered foreign currency notes in edible items which they handed over to Customs officials along with the apprehended suspect.

The video of the incident has been shared widely of social media which showed foreign currency stuffed inside edible food items in his luggage.

The clip was shared by CISF on Twitter with a caption, “Vigilant #CISF personnel apprehended a passenger namely Mr. Murad Alam carrying a high volume of foreign currency worth approx. INR 45 lakh concealed in peanuts, biscuit packets & other eatable items kept inside his baggage @ IGI Airport, Delhi. A passenger was handed over to customs.”

 

Murad was caught at the time of the security check, officials found an unusual number of edible food items in his luggage.

Reportedly, CISF recovered around Rs 45 lakh in foreign currency. He packed the whopping amount into peanuts, biscuits and mutton curry.

Meanwhile, it is not clear whether the accused was working alone or others were also involved in the smuggling racket.
