Delhi: Women murdered, body dumped in carton in front of hotel, 2 arrested
A 32-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly killing a women in Delhi’s New Usmanpur area, police said on Wednesday. Police also arrested his friend as he allegedly helped him dispose the body in front of a hotel.
The two accused have been identified as Nazir and his associate Anil Singh (22), police said.
On Monday around 5:20 pm, police received information regarding a body on a footpath in front of D-Aqua hotel in Shastri Park, a police officer stated.
Police arrived at the spot and found the body of a women put inside a carton and there was a scarf wrapped around the victim’s neck.
During probe, police analysed CCTV footage installed in the nearby area. They found a footage in which two persons on a bike could be seen dumping a large box at the spot, police said.
One of them was identified as Nazir who was earlier involved in a criminal case in Kotwali, police stated.
"Raids were conducted at various places and the accused were arrested from CPJ block, New Seelampur area," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) Ved Prakash Surya said.
The mobile phone of the victim was found at the instance of Nazir from a drain in front of a government school in Shastri Park, the DCP said.
Interrogation showed that Nazir and the women knew one another. On the day of the murder, she came to his shop and an altercation had happened between them, police said.
Nazir got angry and strangulated her with her scarf. He then placed the body in a carton and called his friend Singh to dispose it, Surya said.
