Delhi: Woman doctor allegedly attacked by CATS ambulance staff

A female doctor of Lok Nayak Hospital was allegedly attacked by a CATS ambulance worker on Wednesday while she was on duty. The Resident Doctors’ Association has raised the issue with the hospital medical director.

In the meantime, the hospital, in an official statement on Thursday, stated that the issue has been settled.

The incident happened around 3:45 pm when worker of CATS ambulance allegedly started behaving badly with a resident doctor on duty on being asked to wear mask amd maintain social distancing.

“The matter of misunderstanding and consequently ensuing altercation between the CATS ambulance attendants and accident and emergency staff of Lok Nayak Hospital was amicably resolved by the intervention of senior officers of both the organisation, CATS and LNH, after the staff members concerned of both the organisation involved in the incident felt that any and all differences need to be kept aside in view of ongoing Covid-19 outbreak,” the hospital clarified.

Also, for better communication with the coronavirus patients, the hospital stated, they have decided to increase the number of rounds by the doctor in wars. “A grievance cell has been activated where in-house patients and their attendants can register their grievances and issue through WhatsApp or text messages, in respect of the service provided in the hospital,” said an official.

Lok Nayak Hospital is the biggest coronavirus facility run by Delhi government. It is one of the hub of clinical trial of plasma therapy for the viral infection. According to hospital sources, some of the patient have been administered the therapy and the initial outcomes were positive. Plasma enrichment technique entails taking blood plasma from a person who has recovered from coronavirus as it contains antibodies which, when transfused to a sick paitient, can boost immunity and help in recovery.
