Delhi: Wanted criminal arrested from Rohini after brief exchange of fire with police
A wanted criminal was taken into custody from New Delhi’s Rohini, after a brief exchange of fire on Saturday, the police said.
The accused, who is identified as Imran also known as Rajesh (36), is a resident of Nangloi, police said.
As maintained by the police, they received an information that Imran was hiding in a house in Rohini.
"A team was sent to the spot and Imran was asked to surrender, but he opened fire at the police from the house. In retaliation, the police also fired and nabbed him at around 4 am," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said.
Two rounds were fired from both ends, resulting in a bullet injury to the accused. He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was undergoing treatment, the senior police official stated.
A semi-automatic gun and seven live cartridges were recovered for the possession of the accused. The police sated.
Previously, Imran was apprehended in more than 10 criminal cases in Delhi, including in murder, attempted murder, ectortion, MCOCA, Arms Act annd assault upon police charges, they said.
He was associated with gangster Rajesh Bawana, Surender alias Nittu Dabodo, Rajesh Durmut and Ashok Pradhan, the police added.
