Delhi shocker: Man assaults woman to death after she refuses to give him free cigarette
In an appalling incident of crime against women reported from Delhi's Dwarka, a man allegedly killed a woman outside her shop on Sunday.
Reportedly, the accused brutally beat-up the woman and killed her after she declined to give him a cigarette for free. As per reports, the accused didn't have cash to buy cigarette.
The deceased victim has been identified as Vibha. A native of Dwarka's Dabri area, the 30-year-old woman used to run a general store along with her husband.
On Sunday, the accused, identified as Dilip, went to the woman's general store at around 10.15 pm and asked for a cigarette and some food. The woman, however, refused when the accused said that he did not have money to give in exchange for the food and cigarette.
The accused, who is a plumber and contractor, was allegedly intoxicated when the unfortunate episode happened. The accused allegedly started arguing with the victim (Vibha) when she refused to give the cigarette and food for free. Vibha tried to scare away the accused with a broom and threw stones at him, The Indian Express reported.
Irked by the same, the accused allegedly took a sharp edged weapon from his toolbox and slit Vibha's neck. Following a PCR call, the police arrived at the crime spot and found out that the woman had been taken to the DDU Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
In the CCTV recording of the horrifying incident, the man could be seen arguing with Vibha and falling to the ground after being assaulted. Reportedly, the locals caught hold of Dilip when the police were investigating the matter and brutally thrashed him.
According to the DCP, "While police were investigating the matter, some people gathered at the spot and demanded that Dilip be handed over to them. The mob pelted stones and bricks at the police team, but they managed to arrest the accused. Two constables suffered injuries after a few locals pelted stones at them. "
