Delhi Murder: Man kills wife; files missing complaint to mislead cops

In a shocking incident reported from the national capital, A man was arrested for allegedly killing his wife and then filing her missing complaint to mislead the police, said an official of Delhi Police on Tuesday.

According to police, the murder was carried out by two people, the husband of the deceased woman, Sunil Kumar, aged 32, and his brother Chhotu, aged 27. They both work as vendors in weekly markets, reported IANS.

“Sunil Kumar had registered a missing report of his wife at Maidangarhi police station on 26th June ,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South), Benita Mary Jaiker.

As maintained by the DCP, the complainant stated that his wife had been missing since June 13 from his house without any intimation. However, during the probe, the role of the husband was investigated and found suspicious, as per the IANS.

“He also failed to report her "missing" within a reasonable period,” added DCP Jaiker.

In the time of investigation and sustained interrogation, the husband of the woman broke down and revealed that he had already killed his wife on June 14, along with his brother,” the DCP said adding accused told that he was fed up with the habits of his wife.

Furthermore, the accused during the interrogation told the police that when he came to know that his in-laws had lodged a police complaint against him in Bulandshahar in Uttar Pradesh for murdering his wife, he was trying to lodge a missing report of his wife in Delhi for his safety, added the DCP.

The Delhi Police have filed a case under sections 302 (murder), 201 (Causing disappearance of evidence of the offence, or giving false information to screen offender), 182 (False information), 211 (False charge of offence made with intent to injure), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code and took Sunil Kumar into their custody.

After further interrogation, police recovered the lifeless body of the woman from the Bhatti mine forest area. In the meantime, the second accused Chhotu is still absconding, the DCP added.
