Delhi horror: Six-year-old raped by neighbour, admitted to hospital with severe injuries
In an appalling incident reported from the national capital, a six-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour in Trilokpuri area on Wednesday. One person has been taken into police custody in connection with the case and further probe is on.
The case was first brought to the attention of the Delhi Police at around 11:00 am on Wednesday. Official were told that a six-year-old minor girl had been brought to a local hospital in a dire state.
The cops have filed a case against this background at the Mayur Vihar police station on the basis of the victim’s family complaint. The accused has been charged under Section 376 AB of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 3(2)(v) of the SC/ST Act.
Officials established that the kid had been admitted to a local hospital for medical attention as she suffered serious injuries. She has now been shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for a pediatrician's opinion.
The incident comes at the back of a similar case in Nangal village in Delhi Cantonment area that triggered outrage earlier this month.
A nine-year-old girl was killed and forcibly cremated by four people in Nangal village, the victim's family alleged. In their statements to the police, family members also accused the four men of sexual assault.
Preliminary report suggest that the accused tried to convince the family to cremate the victim's dead body without informing the police as it would 'complicate matters'.
A court on Tuesday sent the four accused to three day police custody.
